Our Charity Work

I only met Craig for the first time at my dads funeral. Not a happy day to meet someone, but our friendship grew from then on.

It was Craig who came to me with the idea of holding a darts competition in his memory and raise some funds for a charity close to my dads heart, The League of Friends.

I thought this would be a fantastic idea and so we jotted down a few ideas and came up with a darts mini-league that would be run between my dads most frequented pubs, Glasson Rangers RLFC, Station Road Inn and The Bounty Inn.

Unfortunately the league soon deminished as it clashed with too many other worthy competitions with years of history.

We took this setback quite hard and we were very deflated. However we felt we needed to try again as we promised we would do something in memory of my dad and also we promised to raise money for this very worthy charity.

We decided to host a one-off event, a one day darts event where everyone came to compete and hopefully raise lots of money.

As I had my own internet catalogue business at the time I donated several items from this online store to raise money.

The competition was a huge success with plenty of entrants and the raffle was also a great money earner.

We managed to raise £400 for The League of Friends and we were really proud when we were to hand over the cheque.

This one-off event however became a yearly event due to its popularity and more to the point, due to the darters who turned up to play who were very enthusiastic about the tournament.

It gave myself and Craig much encouragement to eventually continue with this tournament.

It has since came to our attention that we never tried to raise money for any charities after that and always concentrated on the players interest which is a task in itself. Trying to run a succesful competiton and keeping everyone enthusiastic is a difficult task.

But due to the recent ill health of Craig's mam we have decided to run several events this year finalising them all with our darts presentation night to hand over our cheque.

This year we are raising as much as possible through various events in aid of The Alzheimer's Society.

A truely worthy charity and one close to Craigs heart at this difficult moment in time. Please help us as much as you can to raise the funds.

All money raised will be very much appreciated.
