The most impressive entrants have be to Bill Hoskins & Sas Bode over the years. They have made the final no fewer than 4 times. Although losing 3 times in the 2005, 2007 and 2008 finals, they eventually overcame John Duncan & Pam Hind in the 2009 final to take the winners trophy home for the first time.
They were beaten in the 2010 semi-final 3-2 by John Blaney & Michelle Black.
In 2011 they failed to qualify for finals night for the first time too. Even though they showed some good form each week, it just didn't happen for them on each of the qualifying nights.
They then won the duffers final together in 2013 with Sas winning the same comp in 2012 with Gary Wilkinson.
See the Players Stats page for all the stats on our players who have made finals night over the years.
Amazingly, when the event entered its 9th year, no player had won this event twice. We had 8 different winners over the 8 years confirming just how competetive this tournament has become.
In 2013 in the 9th event, Kerry Wilkinson and Steven Stevenson were the first players to have won the tournament twice with both previously winning it with different partners. Therefore no partnership has still the tournament twice........................yet!!!
In 2011, Andy Goodfellow & Lorraine Green finished off the final leg of the final with an impressive 15 dart leg. Not a bad way to check out to claim the winners trophy.
In 2009 Sas Bode checked out on 144 in the final against John Duncan & Pam Hind to win the tournament for the first time being in their 4th grand final. Check our list of high checkouts and see where Sas lies in the rankings.
The tournament has been held in Glasson Rangers every year except one. In 2006 it was held in The Bounty Inn using the one night format.
The quickest leg over the years is by Val & Colin Hargraves in Week 3 of the 2012 Qualifiers. they hit an 11 dart leg with Val hitting off on 180. Colin then followed with a 120 with his 3rd dart dropping out of the treble 20. Val then another high score for Colin to finish off the leg in style with 2 more darts. Excellent stuff. See the full list of quickest legs in our tournament on our Best Dart Legs Page.
The quickest leg over the years is now followed by the longest leg. I think this may take some beating. A 1 hour 15 minute leg was endured by Bill Barnes & Alison Chapman against Bill Hoskins & Sas Bode in the quarter final of the Duffers Final 2013. Yes, the power cut didnt help I suppose but I dont see how they can use that as an excuse really, there were candles available.
Stephen Bonnet has hit the most maximums in the tournament with 11 so far and still going. He was also the person who struck our 100th maximum in our history in 2014 Week 4 Qualifiers. See the 180 stats page for a full list of the maximum hit list.
John Duncan has the best 3 dart average on record so far. See the full list on our 3 dart average rankings page.
