2009 Results
This year being the first time had the event over 5 weeks.
4 Qualifying weeks with 2 pairs who qualify into the finals night in the 5th week.
WEEK 1 Qualifiers.
Bill Hoskins & Sas Bode led the way winning both half entries beating Angela Stott & Ryan Porthouse convincingly 3-0 in the 1st half and then beating Kerry Wilkinson & John Blaney 3-1 in the 2nd half entry.
In the play-off Angela & Ryan beat John & Kerry 3-1 to qualify for finals night with Bill & Sas.
Ryan Porthouse hit a 120 checkout in the 1st half semi-final which was the highest of the night.
John Blaney was the only person to score a maximum 180 on the night.
There were 16 x 140's and 55 x 100+ scores.
WEEK 2 Qualifiers.
John Duncan & Pam Hind followed in Bill & Sas's footsteps in winning both half finals. They beat Heather Steele & Alan McNaughton 3-1 in the 1st half final and then beat Michelle Black & Andrew Foster 3-1 in the 2nd half final.
In the play-off Andrew & Michelle beat Heather & Alan 3-1 to join John and Pam into the grand final.
Dave Chapman had the highest checkout of 125 on the night. (Yes, that's Dave Chapman and not a mis-print ha ha)
Again only 1 maximum on the night and that was from Alan McNaughton in the first round match against Ron Peat & Kelly Whitehead.
In total there were 16 x 140's and 48 x 100+ scores.
WEEK 3 Qualifiers.
Once again the both half finals were won by the same pair. This time Mark Linford & Heather Steele showing how its done winning the 1st half final 3-1 against Les White & Pauline Burns. They then also won the 2nd half final 3-1 defeating Craig Denwood & Kath White 3-1.
In the play-off Craig & Kath made short work of it against Les & Pauline with a convincing 3-0 win to join Mark & Heather through to finals night.
Craig had the highest checkout on the night too with a 116 finish.
No maximums this week but there was 6 x 140's and 31 100+ scores so very creditable scoring throughout.

WEEK 4 Qualifiers.
An unusual event occuring in the final qualifying week where both half finals were contested between John Blaney & Kerry Wilkinson and Steven & Dawn Stevenson. With this being the case then both pairs automatically qualified without having to play each other.
Only 60 was the highest checkout this week with Kerry finishing on 60.
1 maximum from John Blaney.
There were 14 x 140's and 42 100+ scores throughout.
The stat that stands out is that Steven & Dawn qualified without dropping a single leg all night.
FINALS NIGHT
Quarter Finals
Bill Hoskins & Sas Bode won a very close match against the Stivvy's taking it 3-2. Sas had a 100 checkout and there were 3 x 140's and 7 x 100+ scores with Steven Stevenson getting 2 x 140's and 3 x 100's and still ended up on the losing side.
John Blaney & Kerry Wilkinson beat Ryan Porthouse & Angela Stott in another close match eventually going through 3-2.
Ryan had the highest checkout of 83. This match consisted of som every high scoring between both pairs with 1 x 180, 1 x 140 and 14 x 100+ scores.
John hit the maximum and Ryan hit 1 x 140 and 6 x 100+ scores alone.
John Duncan & Pam Hind breezed past Craig Denwood & Kath White with a 3-0 victory. John hit a maximum and even though they did win 3-0 neither pair really hit top gear and only a handful of 100+ scores to record.
Andrew Foster & Michelle Black beat Mark Linford & Heather Steele 3-1 in yet another low scoring match. Mark was the highest scorer with 1 x 140 and 3 x 100+ scores.
Semi-Finals
An excellent match occurred before us as this game swung to and fro. Bill & Sas took a 1-0 lead over John & Kerry. John & Kerry levelled with John hitting the treble 20 with ease. John continued his scoring and checked out on 112 to lead the match 2-1. Bill & Sas levelled with a scrappy 4th leg but then all four players hitting tons set up a great finish which Sas took at the first attempt.
John & Pam went 1-0 down against Andrew & Michelle and were looking rocked. John then found his range and hit 5 tons in 7 time at the oche. this high scoring ensured a 3-1 victory but with better finishing this match could have gone either way.
GRAND FINAL
This final was set up to be a classic as Bill & Sas were 3 times losing finalists against the reigning 2008 champions John & Pam.
This was a fantastic final and it was astounding finishing against high scoring.
John & Pam were the high scorers but not finishing. With the scorline at 1-1 they were first to the doubles but missed. Bill then checked out on 108 to go 2-1 up.
A scrappy 4th leg ensued but again Bill hit his double at the first attempt to go 3-1 up.
In the 5th leg John & Pam opened up a significant lead and were first to the double. They both had attempts and then Sas took the title in classic style with a 144 checkout to take the title.
